First Day in Lisbon

Our travels went very smoothly for a change. We didn’t check luggage (a first for us on an international trip), so we didn’t have to worry about losing luggage. The flights were on time – amazing! Carl and I were not seated together, and I couldn’t get comfortable as my knee would cramp up from sitting so long.

The Lisbon airport is large, and we walked a long ways to meet the transfer driver to the hotel. Phillipo will be with us on the trip, and he said that there are only 23 in the tour group. Our hotel is very nice, and it’s in a pretty neighborhood. After trying to take a short nap, we set out to have lunch. The menu was in Portuguese, and we tried a pork dish that was tasty, but there was too much food.

The temperature is in the 80’s, and the sun is so bright it makes it hard to see when walking outdoors. They are forecasting nice weather for the duration of our trip.

We’ll meet the W & L travelers tonight, along with Matthew, our W & L professor. There are only 6 of us, and 2 of the travelers are friends of ours from FL. Tomorrow, we have a city tour of Lisbon, which looks to be a bustling city. I was surprised at how hilly it is.

I look forward to your comments. I’ll post pictures when we are out and about. Ann
